On Saturday members of our club participated in the Heroes on the Water kayak fishing event at the Frito Lay Headquarters lake in Frisco. The program supports wounded Vets by providing a day of kayaking and fishing. Our club provided lunch and a check to the HOW organization for $1,500.00. We plan to participate in other HOW events next year as well. Thanks to everyone who took time to come out and let our wounded Veterans know you appreciate their service to our country.

HIGHWAY CLEANUP

We are in the process of getting Sunrise Rotary re-contracted with City of Allen/Keep Allen Beautiful and the Adopt a Highway Program for the next two years. It was important for the city to see we have good participation in our first clean-up date (which we have) to keep the partnership moving forward.

We are responsible for a mile stretch of Hwy 5 (S. Greenville Ave) between Bethany and Chaparral Rd.  We will begin each day at 8:00am. Everybody is to meet in the parking lot of the shopping center located on the southeast corner of Greenville Avenue and Bethany Drive. Equipment such as gloves, bags, safety vests and pick-up sticks will be provided.  It has been a tradition to optionally meet at the Allen Café at 7:00am before each pick-up for breakfast if you are so inclined.
